Get a free quoteSustainability as a term has been around for a long while now, but it is only recently that it has become a buzzword in many industries, including our own.
The problem of global warming affects every single person on the planet, and if we’re serious about tackling it we must take a good look at what sustainability means for us all, and how we can bring it into our everyday lives.
Here and there, we’re all trying to make changes – using less fuel by turning down the heating, going on public transport instead of driving our cars – and here at Seal Lite we are no exception. In this article we’d like to tell you how we’re working to be more sustainable, both as a company and in the products we manufacture and sell.
According to research, more than 60 per cent of UK consumers feel sustainability is more important to them than it was just a few years ago. They also make conscious decisions to buy sustainable products, ‘doing their bit’ in the fight against climate change.
As we know, the glazing industry uses a lot of plastic, and we must find ways of making this useage as sustainable as possible. At Seal Lite, we’re committed to recycling everything we use on site, reducing the amount of waste we produce. This policy is present throughout every stage of our operation. From fabricating our uPVC and aluminium products in our manufacturing facilities to installing them at the homes of our customers. Seal-Lite is 100 per cent committed to reducing plastic wastage.
Also, as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility strategy, we’re also committed to undertaking sustainable working practices that reduce the number of harmful greenhouse emissions we expel into the environment.
Now let’s look at our range of doors to examine their sustainable qualities while helping you make the right choice for your home.
Gone are the days when uPVC was non-recyclable. These days, this robust product is one of the most sustainable construction materials around, and can be recycled up to ten times, with no loss of quality. Given that a uPVC door has a lifespan of up to 40 years, this really is sustainability in action.
All the uPVC entrance doors we supply are designed with energy efficiency in mind. They have outstanding insulation properties, reducing heat loss and keeping your home warm while helping to reduce heating bills by significant amounts. These uPVC doors are strong, secure and built to last. The material we use is highly weather and corrosion-resistant, and doesn’t warp, crack, or fade over time. This means that you won’t need to replace them for many decades – another point in sustainability’s favour!
Composite doors are made up of a combination of high-quality materials and they are in turn one of the most sustainable and energy efficient doors on the market. A composite door has a long shelf life, meaning that it won’t need to be replaced for many years. It has outstanding insulating properties which again keeps your home warm while helping to reduce energy bills and improve your home’s carbon footprint.
We supply the industry-leading Solidor, which has a solid timber core, making it the strongest and most durable of its kind on the market. Additionally, it can accommodate both double and triple glazing easily. These solid timber core composites can achieve U-values as low as 1.5 W/m2. A U-value, by the way, is a means of measuring ‘thermal transmittance’, i.e. how easily heat gets through windows and doors. The lower U-value, the more the heat is retained inside the home. Design your dream composite door today by using our door designer tool, discover the endless possibilities with Seal Lite by your side.
Aluminium is an incredibly sustainable product. It is infinitely recyclable without compromising on quality, it won’t rust or corrode, and it can easily last up to 45 years with very little maintenance involved. And here’s an interesting fact: 75 per cent of all the aluminium ever produced is still in use to this day. How about that for sustainability?!
The bifold doors that we supply are triple glazed, giving that extra thermal layer of insulation. And due to their proactive polyamide thermal break, the bifold’s U-value is improved. The Visofold bifolds we supply also feature EPDM high-quality gaskets and weather brushes, which support beneficial weatherproofing qualities and can accommodate both double and triple glazing comfortably.
These are just a few examples of the sustainable home improvement products that we offer at Seal Lite.
