One of these tasks might be cleaning your windows and doors. So, to make it easier for any who plan on doing this, we have listed some innovative windows and door cleaning hacks below:
Open any windows and doors that you plan to clean as far as they can go before going over them with a hoover, making sure to cover every nook and cranny. By removing the excess dirt before you start to scrub them, you are guaranteed cleaner windows and doors at the end of the cleaning process.
It may come as a surprise, but household vinegar can be used to create a highly effective window and door cleaning solution. To do this, mix 1 part of distilled white vinegar with 4 parts of warm water. Do this in a spray bottle so you can easily apply it to your windows and doors. Once applied, start cleaning the stains away with a soft cloth.
For any persistent stains, apply the solution and leave it for 5-10 minutes before scrubbing away.
By applying non-gel toothpaste to a non-abrasive cloth and scrubbing any scratches in a circular motion, it is possible to remove them from your window. Once any scratches are removed, make sure you wipe the area clean with a soft, damp cloth and then dry.
If you’re cleaning any windows and doors with glass, such as patio doors, bifold doors or French doors, make sure you do so on a cloudy day or one where the temperature isn’t too warm. This is because either scenario increases the risk of cleaning solution drying on the glass and leaving a film on it.
One of the best ways to achieve a streak-free finish when drying your windows is to use either newspaper or coffee filters.
Using abrasive cloths, sponges, etc. when cleaning windows and doors runs the risk of scratching them, so make sure to stick with soft, non-abrasive products. If you do decide to use any special cleaning products, make sure they’re suitable for use on the material your windows/doors are built from too, whether that’s uPVC, aluminium or something else.
In the process of cleaning your windows and doors, you might notice things like broken seals or condensation. If you’re unfortunate enough for this to be the case, a simple clean won’t be enough to remedy these issues, you should instead think about replacing your windows or doors with some newer high-quality ones. We have a diverse range of windows and doors with plenty of colour options available to ensure your home looks the best it can!
If you’re still unhappy with the results, even after using our windows and door cleaning hacks, it might be time to replace any windows and doors. In such cases, Seal-Lite can help. We are temporarily closed in line with government guidance on the COVID-19 outbreak, but we are still taking home improvement enquiries.
